Flight of the Living Dead #2 news

Page 24 is going up shortly, which is the last page of not only hour three, but also the first issue. The second issue consists entirely of hour four, which will be eighteen pages long.

However, it's going to be a little different than the first three hours. I'm taking a break from this comic until I finish up The Sundays #1. Then I'm going to wait until I have about half the pages done from FoLD #2, and then put the pages up three per week for six straight weeks. They'll probably go up on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

I'm also going to try something different, in keeping with my original plan of having this comic be about experimentation. I'm not going to be doing ink wash again for the second issue.

  1. I really think the ink wash adds alot to the art. Sort of an Ed Wood type thing. I like it.

Have you seen Ross Campbell's Wet Moon books? I think he uses greytone markers and renders a bit more than your work on FOTLD, but it definitely adds more character.

Do you do the tones on the orginal or a photocopy?

  2. Not sure how to take that Ed Wood thing, but thanks.

Yeah, I am a huge fan of Ross Campbell and Wet Moon. Reading his zombie book The Abandoned was a big inspiration for me to get FoLD going.

I do the tones on the original, but I'm thinking about doing digital tones for the next chapter.

  3. The Ed Wood thing was meant as a compliment.

if you're doing digital tones, making custom brushes in photoshop is the way to go, especially if you've got a wacom.

What P.O.D. printer are you using for the comic?

  4. Also, check out the greytones in the Plain Janes book from DC or Dave Gibbons' The Originals. Well done tones that add alot to the overall look.

  5. I'm using comixpress.com. They have all the files, I'm just waiting to hear back from them and get a proof. And thanks, I'll check out those books.
